Chemical Service Engineer
Purpose
Chemical Service Engineer relates to a person with technical background who is able to sell Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s products and services to owners offices or onboard their vessels.
Interrelations
The Chemical Service Engineer reports directly to the Sales Manager with a functional report to Port Sales Manager.
Formal authorities
? The Chemical Service Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Wilhelmsen Ships Services customers receive a continual professional service.
? The Chemical Service Engineer is responsible to request of any Wilhelmsen Ships Service office that a visit to a customer’s office, vessel or representative must be carried out to ensure that the level of service is maintained.
? The Chemical Service Engineer, under the guidance of his Port Sales Manager, has total responsibility and authority to promote all Wilhelmsen Ships Services concepts and activities to the owners’ offices and onboard vessels.
? The Chemical Service Engineer is responsible to improve Wilhelmsen Ships Services technical competence by specialising in certain areas of service (i.e. Chemicals, RFN, FRS etc.).
? The Chemical Service Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all actions relating to customers are carried out in accordance with the companies’ standards.
? The Chemical Service Engineer is responsible to ensure that customers receive the service required internationally and to resolve any problems that occur as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Main responsibilities
? To visit customers and vessels in his/her area and sell the companies products and services in accordance with the companies policy.
? Visit customers and vessels on request by Account Managers both in own and other areas and report back the result the visit. Upload daily work in Orient
? To ensure that technical support is given where and when necessary and provide demonstrations on use of Wilhelmsen Ships Service products.
? Complete and issue relevant documentation after every service which are rendered onboard a vessel.
? Attend sales meetings (when possible) and forward customer information to the Account Managers for follow up.
? Follow up strictly all customer and vessel information available through Wilhelmsen Ships Services databases.
? To analyse relevant customer statistics to ensure that the customer is receiving the correct level of service.
? To advise other areas of the movement of customers vessels in order that we can offer the high level of service that the customer expects Wilhelmsen Ships Service.
? To advise relevant personnel of any incidents involving his/her customers to ensure that any corrective action that may be necessary is taken.

The ability to cover more than one product area for Chemical Service Engineers with main responsibility to visit vessels.
Special product knowledge in a product area for Chemical Service Engineers with main responsibility to visit owners.
? Result to key account budget and product budget;
Sales vs. budget in relevant product groups and for key accounts.
Qualifications
Mandatory requirements
? Marine or technical education is preferred to a reasonable standard, with experience rather than formal education being the key requirement.
? Background the marine industry with a minimum of 5 years.
? A good command of spoken and written English is essential with additional languages being desirable.
? Good communication and people skills and a flexible working attitude regarding working outside of normal office hours. For example; must be capable of being onboard a vessel in working clothes in the morning and in an owners office in a suit in the afternoon if required.
? Sales experience.
