Project Estimator Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Project Estimator is to assist our Dry Dock Sales team by understanding customer specifications, identifying all project costs, and preparing estimates that are both competitive and profitable.
Responsibilities include the following:
• Always follows company policies and procedures.
• Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• To compare and negotiate prices and terms ed competing vendors to ensure Mackay’s bids are as competitive as possible.
• The Project Estimator will identify and learn a host of alternative products to compose the most attractive overall solution and bid.
• Will populate the ‘Master Quote ' with costs related to Project Management, console construction, installation, labor, freight, or any other ges as required.
• Will track and report the financial savings or bid improvements he/she initiated for evaluation purposes.
• Will also abide by internal procedures related to Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, RFQ’s, securing credit terms, quote review, and recordkeeping.
• Attend all meetings and training sessions with vendors to learn about new products. Gather sales information vendors (power point presentation, etc.) for distribution to Commercial Sales Group.
• Keep the Dry Dock Sales Group aware of any new regulations (USCG, Class Society, etc.) and the effect on equipment being sold for new construction and retrofit projects.
• The ability to learn and navigate through the various screens and processes in Solomon and to run reports as needed or required.
Project Estimator Qualifications:
1. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking in English.
2. Bachelor’s Degree preferred or a combination of university courses and relevant experience.
2. 3+ Years of project estimation experience.
3. 3+ Years ' experience in marine electronics and equipment.
4. Must possess excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset.
5. Advanced proficiency with Excel, must be adept at creating and modifying complex formulas.
6. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
7. Organize detailed and proprietary information on a professional and confidential level.
