太平船务有限公司(PIL)由张允中先生于1967年在新加坡成立，公司成立之初，以经营区域性的散杂货运输为主，从1983年起，首次推出了集装箱运输服务，现已由一家散货运输公司发展成为亚洲的船公司之一，在世界集装箱运输公司中排名第19位。
　　太平船务(中国)有限公司是新加坡太平船务公司于1995年在北京正式注册成立的外商独资公司，经过十余年的稳步发展，已设立了上海、天津、青岛、大连、厦门、宁波、广州、深圳和南京等10家分公司以及杭州、福州、石家庄、郑州、温州、西安、烟台、顺德、武汉、汕头、义乌和重庆等13个办事处。目前新加坡太平船务公司已跻身全球集装箱班轮公司综合实力20强之列。拥有98艘全集装箱船，总运力达13.5万个标准箱，拥有强健的海上运输服务。近年来，不断扩展在中国的业务范围，投资成立了公司集团的仓储 货代 、物流中心、集装箱堆场和造箱厂等合资公司。
